Philadelphia police said the shooter was carrying multiple firearms and wearing a ballistic vest

At least four people were killed and several more injured during a shooting rampage in Philadelphia on Monday, according to local law enforcement. Officials noted that children and a teenager were among the victims.
Police responded to reports of shots fired at around 8:30pm, finding multiple victims at the scene, including two children and one teen. Local officials said a total of six people were shot, four of them fatally, while two others were injured by other means.
A suspect who has yet to be named was taken into custody soon after the calls on Monday night, with police saying the man was equipped with a rifle, a handgun, a bulletproof vest and several extra magazines. The assailant was apprehended without any shots fired, officers said.
Police have shared few other details about the shooting or the victims, but suggested there could be multiple crime scenes involved.

Philadelphia Mayor Jim Kenney later commented on the incident in a social media post, saying he was “horrified” by the shooting and that his thoughts were with the victims and their families.
