Russian air defense systems intercepted 11 Ukrainian drones over Kursk Region and repelled an attempt by Kiev’s forces to break through the border, Governor Roman Starovoyt reported on Tuesday morning.

In a video published on Telegram, the governor reported that it was a restless night for the region as it came under a massive drone raid.

He noted that the threat of missile attacks in Kursk remains, as the village of Tyotkino, located just 2km from the Russian-Ukrainian border, is still being shelled by Kiev’s troops.

Starovoyt reported that one person has been injured in the village, adding that the man has received medical attention.

Throughout the night, starting at 1:27am local time, Starovoyt reported each time that a drone was shot down by Russian air defense systems, and encouraged residents to remain indoors and stay away from windows and hide in their bathrooms or closets.

Meanwhile, war correspondents from the Telegram channel WarGonzo reported that several groups of Ukrainian fighters supported by tanks tried to enter Kursk Region near Tyotkino at around 8am local time. They were met with resistance from Russian forces and were ultimately forced to retreat.

The Baza Telegram channel has also shared a video filmed by local residents of what is claimed to be fighting near Tyotkino. The authenticity of the video has yet to be confirmed.

The Russian Defense Ministry has also confirmed that Kiev’s troops attempted an incursion into Kursk and Belgorod Regions, reporting that Russian forces, along with federal border guards, repelled the attack.

The attack on Kursk Region is the latest in a series of attempts by the Ukrainian military to break through the Russian border in recent days. Russia’s Federal Security Service (FSB) reported on Tuesday that since March 10, Kiev has lost over 100 people, six tanks, a French Caesar artillery system, and 20 armored vehicles in their failed attempts to enter Kursk and Belgorod Regions.
