Ukraine’s armed forces have shelled the village of Klimovo in Russia’s Bryansk Region, using multiple-launch rocket systems. The attack has left several civilians dead, including one child, and many injured, Governor Aleksandr Bogomaz reported on Tuesday via his official Telegram channel.

The official also stated that five others, including children, had been injured in the attack and that the shells have damaged a school building, several administrative buildings, and some residential houses. He added that power supply in the village has been disrupted.

Bogomaz stated that emergency services are already working on-site and that the injured are being provided with all the necessary medical assistance.

According to the Zvezda news channel, the governor’s press service has reportedly clarified that one ten-year-old child and one adult were killed in the attack.

Russia’s Defense Ministry also reported on Tuesday that at around 4pm local time, Ukrainian forces attempted to launch a terrorist attack using airplane-type unmanned aerial vehicles to strike objects on Russian territory.

However, Russian air-defense forces managed to successfully destroy the drone above the Bryansk region before it could reach its target, the ministry said.

Russia’s Bryansk region, which borders Ukraine to the south and Belarus to the west, has repeatedly come under attack from Kiev’s forces and faced multiple incursion attempts by Ukrainian infiltration groups in recent months. In August alone, Russian officials reported three attempted incursions and several raids, the latest of which resulted in the injury of a civilian, a local farmer.

Other Russian regions bordering Ukraine have also been facing increased artillery and drone attacks, which have on multiple occasions resulted in the deaths of civilians, among them many children.
